About

A council platform, not a training shop

VET Council operates its own professional platform. Course discovery, registration, attendance and learning history sit naturally inside one Annual Professional Competency journey — and locum operates as the second major utility within the same platform.

Our principle

The platform exists to make professional development verifiable and effortless. The primary progress indicator is courses completed and APC points earned — derived exclusively from verified course completions rather than self-reported certificate uploads. When a professional attends a council-approved course, whether in person, live online, or on demand, completion is recorded through the platform's own rules and the APC record updates itself.

What the platform does

  • APC tracking — current cycle, points earned, remaining requirement, and a permanent completion record per professional.
  • Course engine — physical courses, live webinars (using your existing Zoom, Google Meet or Teams links) and recorded programmes, each carrying a council-verified point value.
  • Attendance integrity — unique QR passes per registration, duplicate-scan detection, and administrator corrections that are always written to an immutable audit log.
  • Locum matching — employers post vacancies by profession, skills, date and rate; the system only matches professionals from the relevant profession and skill category.
  • Council administration — course approval workflow, verification of professionals and employers, configurable APC rules per cycle and profession, and reporting.

How completion is verified

Every course type has an explicit rule. Physical courses and live events verify attendance by scanned QR pass or authorised manual entry. Recorded courses require full viewing plus a short quiz. The change to COMPLETED is the single database event that moves APC progress — duplicate completions are blocked automatically, and any legitimate correction goes through an admin override with an audit trail.

Roles on the platform

Professional (vet, pharmacist, allied health), Employer, Trainer/Speaker and Council Admin are separate permissions — even where one person can hold more than one role. Course publishing remains admin-controlled: trainers submit, the council approves and assigns APC point values. This keeps the register trustworthy while leaving room for a future trainer marketplace.
